You know what they say, when it rains it snows.
In about 7 hours I am driving to my brother’s apartment, picking him up, leaving my apartment keys with a friend, and then driving to Maine. My father has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. When I last saw him (December 30), we had no idea anything was wrong. Now he is hospitalized, hallucinating, only occasionally lucid, with cancer spread through his entire body.
Nothing in life has prepared me for this.
Anyway, I will be in Maine for an indefinite period of time. If you need to get in touch with me, use e-mail. I’ve got a friend watching my apartment and sending me my mail, but she won’t be checking my phone messages.
Thank you very much to Sarah for agreeing to watch my apartment, Brandy for taking care of the softball team in my absence, and to everyone who has offered their support. This is an awful situation, but it’s selfish to worry about myself given what my father must be going through.
So yeah.
