Game #9

Date: September 26, 2002
Start: 8:20pm
End: 9:15pm
Where: Krieg Field #2
Opponents: Just For Fun

We were the home team (meaning we batted second).

Outcome: LOSS
Final score: 16-11

Note: Despite a lead-off in-the-park homerun by Newton and an excellent pitching and hitting performance by Neil, the Weasels were unable to overcome the powerful offense of Just For Fun. Despite playing with only 9 players (and thus having to take an automatic out in their 10th batting slot), Just For Fun's offense had no trouble posting 7 runs in the second inning and 5 runs in the third. The Weasels tried bravely to rally, but ultimately fell short. On a day when the Weasels offense was at its best, and the Weasel defense flawless, Just For Fun would be defeated. Sadly, this was not such a day.

* - At some point during the game, the outfield was shifted. Eric went from LF to LCF, and Azzy went from LCF to LF. On the right side of the outfield, Carrie went from RF to RCF, and Newton went from RCF to RF. Megan didn't show up until during the top of the third inning. Carrie was the last out of the bottom of the second inning, and that had been her first time at bat. The umpires allowed Megan and Mitch (who had been sitting out, because you are not allowed to bat 11) to join the game at the bottom of the batting order, after Carrie. So starting with the top of the fourth inning, Megan played 3B, Brandy moved to 2B, Jerry moved to C, and Christine moved to DH.
