Note: Finally the Weasels great losing streak was broken, and in grand fashion. The Weasels' offense was potent. Although no home runs were recorded, the Weasels hit the ball well, and capitalized on errors by the opponents. The Weasels baserunning was very agressive, taking extra bases and forcing the opposition to make difficult throws. Equally impressive, if not moreso, was the Ice Weasels' defense, which only allowed a single run in each of the first two innings, and none after that. The infield defense was particularly impressive, stopping nearly every ball that they could possibly reach. Cory ranged far to his right to snag a line drive, as well as fielding a ball behind second base and tossing it to Audrey at second base. Brandy was excellent at first base. She caught a tough foul pop-up, as well as stopping a very tough ball hit to her right and then throwing a runner out at second base. Audrey was solid at second base, fielding what was hit to her and being on the receiving end of several plays at second base. Megan didn't see as much action as the other infielders, but did charge a softly hit ground ball and attempted to throw out the runner at first base. Her hurried throw was a bit low (but blocked by Brandy) and the runner managed to beat it out. Megan was also involved in a close play at third base, receiving a throw from Newton in the outfield. The umpire called the runner sliding in safe, although others disagree with this call and claim Megan applied the tag in time. This left the Weasels with an opposing runner on third base and no outs, but they managed to strand him nevertheless. Eric pitched a spectacular game, not walking a single batter and striking out a couple, as well as slugging a triple. The Weasels' outfield were not bad, but they saw little action. Newton did call off a backpeddaling Cory to catch a shallow fly ball, but otherwise the outfield had very few chances. Overall it was a very well-played game by the Weasels. Though the Weasels had lost their previous 5 games by a combined 6 runs, they made up for it by winning by the 15-run mercy rule in this game. Thanks to Russ and Ray for subbing.
