Game #2

Date: May 15, 2003
Start: 7:25pm
End: 8:20pm
Where: Havins Field #2
Opponents: Practical Jokers

We were the visiting team.

Outcome: WIN
Final score: 14-12

Note: A combination of excellent defense and aggressive offense led to this Weasels victory. Every Weasel contributed to the victory, either offensively, defensively, or both. Pete played great defense in LCF: He charged in to make a sliding catch in the shallow outfield, he ran back to track down a long fly ball, and he made a perfect throw to Matt at third base, who made a very nice tag on a runner to get the final out of an inning. Brandy played her usual solid defensive game at first base. It would be difficult to record all of the nice plays made by the various Weasels, because there truly were a lot of them. Despite what the final score indicates, the Weasels shut down the Practical Jokers' offense for most of the game. On the offensive side, there were again Weasel contributions across the board. Mitch enjoyed one of the few "triples" of his career, primarily the product of a poor throwing decision. There were no easy outs in the lineup, and the Weasels made the opponents pay for the mistakes that they made. Great job, Weasels. Let's keep it up! As an added bonus, former Ice Weasel Hawi came to the game. He moved to Hawaii a couple years ago, but is in town visiting, and came out to see the Weasels play. Thanks to Hawi for coming out, and thanks a lot to Pete for subbing.
