Note: The game did not start well, with The Stingers scoring 10 runs in the top of the first inning. Despite this the Weasels buckled down and mounted their comeback. Newton led off the bottom of the first with a solo inside-the-park home run. Phil hit a solo inside-the-park home run in the second inning. Neil hit two three-run inside-the-park home runs, in the third and fourth innings. Going into the fifth inning, the Weasels had a 17-11 lead. Disaster struck as the Stingers rallied for 6 runs, to tie the game. There were only a few minutes on the clock when the Weasels came to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning with the game tied 17-17. Phil led off with a line drive single to left-center field. He tried to stretch it into a double and was just barely tagged out. Carrie hit a single, as did Mitch, moving Carrie to second base. Susan grounded out, but managed to advance Mitch and Carrie to second and third. With two outs, and only seconds remaining, Newton punched a ground ball up the middle for a double, scoring both Carrie and Mitch, winning the game for the Weasels. A great job by everyone and truly a team effort. Thanks to Faye for subbing, and special thanks to Rachele for subbing on very short notice.
