Note: Having lost to them in our last game, we had to beat them. The first inning was huge. Neil led off with a single to right field, and it just kept getting better. All twelve of our batters got to the plate, and we scored 8 runs. We continued strong into the bottom of the first inning, holding them scoreless. Then things slowed down for our offense. Over the second, third, and fourth innings, they managed to score 10 runs, while we only scored 1 additional run (that run was due primarily to excellent base-running by Hawi). Going into the top of the 5th inning the score was 10-9 (their favor), and there were 4 minutes left on the clock. Our first two batters got out. Then Matt came to the plate. With two outs, Matt took a strike, fouled one back, and took a ball. On the next pitch, Matt lined it to center field for a single. Brandy hit a single which advanced Matt to second. Hawi knocked one into the outfield, Bonnie got a hit, as did Nathan and Krissy (scoring Matt, Hawi, Bonnie, and Nathan). The rally ended with Jonathan, who got a decent hit, but Krissy was out at second. The play was close, and Krissy was playing with a hurt leg. That ended the top of the inning, with the score 13-10 (our favor). The bottom of the fifth inning began with a fly ball to Neil. He backed up and made the catch for the first out. The next batter walked, and was advanced to third on the next hit. The next batter flew out (but was actually called out for stepping on the plate as he batted), and the final batter hit a ground ball to Bonnie, who threw it to first for the last out. We held them, and won the game 13-10. A nice start to the season.
