Notes: An extremely tense, close game that went the full 7 innings. There were numerous excellent defensive plays made by the Weasels over the course of the game. Jason, Chris, and Lucy all made nice catches of line drives at third base, shortstop, and second base respectively. The outfield was also kept busy, making a number of fine plays, including an unbelievable catch of a sinking fly ball in shallow left field by Tim. Perhaps the most impressive defensive play of the game was notable as much for its context as it was for its difficulty. In the bottom of the 7th inning with two outs, the Untouchaballs had the tying run on second base and the winning run on first base. The batter hit a sharp ground ball to Jason at third base. He fielded it perfectly, set himself, and made a solid throw to Lucy at second base to force the runner, ending the game. The offensive leaders for the Weasels were Neil (3 singles in 3 plate appearances), Tim (2 singles and 1 double in 4 plate appearances), and Shawn (2 singles in 3 plate appearances). Overall it was absolutely a team effort, and one of the most exciting victories in recent memory. Thanks to Renee for subbing.
