Game #6

Date: 6/21/01
Start: 8:20pm
End: 9:15pm
Where: Havins Field #1
Opponents: Stingers

We were the visiting team (meaning we batted first).

Outcome: WIN
Final score: 24-2

Note: The Weasels entered this game knowing that a win would be very important. With that in mind, the Ice Weasels played excellent offense and defense for the entire game. The offense racked up 7 runs in the first inning, and added 5 more in the second. The game lasted 5 innings, and the leadoff batter for the Weasels got to second base in all 5 innings (2 doubles by Newton, a double by Mitch, a double by Cory, and a walk by Mitch). Cory hit an in-the-park homerun, and Nathan hit a triple, during the offensive barrage. The defense was equally impressive. The infield made a number of great plays, fielding hard hit balls and making fast, accurate throws to Brandy at first base. Kari and Cory both had several tough balls hit to them, and they fielded them well. In the outfield, Newton hustled to catch a fly ball that hooked foul. Matt made an impressive catch of a ball that was popped up to the shallow outfield. Neil pitched an excellent game, as well as fielding his position well. The final score of the game was Ice Weasels 24, Stingers 2. Everyone contributed to this well-played victory.

* - Mitch initially was not going to be in the lineup, because his leg hurt. But when we got to the field, it felt okay to run, so he decided to DH. Kari was a girl from the previous game that volunteered to play for us. She played excellently for us, and may sub for us in the future. Thanks Kari!
